The vigorous, 4-ft. high plants produce an abundance of dark green, grooved pods without spines. Best picked when 2.5 to 3″ long. GARDEN HINTS: Soak seed in warm water overnight to speed germination. Pick pods young, while still tender. Pods are excellent for use in soups, stews and relishes. Okra is a warm-weather crop, needing both the soil and the nights to be warm before beginning its vigorous growth. Plants begin bearing when about a foot tall and will continue until frost. Special Instructions: Pick young okra pods when they are 2-3” long and continue to harvest every other day to encourage continuous production. Cut pods from the stem just above the cap. They can be stored in a plastic bag in the refrigerator. Delicious steamed, in soups, and fried.
