Metaxa Cognac 3* 0.7L Today, METAXA is exported to over 60 countries, and it is among the 100 most popular drinks worldwide and the 50 fastest-growing. Metaxa is available in five qualities: "Three stars" (at least three years), "five stars" (at least five years), and "seven stars" (at least seven years), 12 stars (at least 12 years), and Private Reserve with distillates over 30 years. In 2008, to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the distillery, METAXA AEN was released to the market in 1,888 numbered bottles made of fine French Sevres crystal. METAXA AEN is a unique distillate from Barrel No. 1, also known as "Spyros Metaxa's barrel" with distillates of at least 100 years and became a collector's item, resulting in it being quickly sold out at prices exceeding 1000 euros/bottle. METAXA was the first drink consumed in space and was one of the major sponsors of the 1982 FIFA World Cup in Spain. The Metaxa hospital in Piraeus was built from a donation by Angelos Metaxa in 1963.
