It cannot function as a wired gamepad, neither before nor after the modification. Perhaps Nintendo wired the connector for potential firmware updates. The data connection can be used with the PlayStation 3 DualShock controller. The console and the computer detect the controller when it is connected (2) There are several controller models. Some have a Mini USB connector with through-hole pins, which is compatible with this mod. Others, such as the VX7 or VX8 versions, have a connector without through-hole pins, and these are not compatible.
